... I first bought this album because I heard "Nemo" on Kerrang TV and fell in love with it as I had never heard anything quite like it before. DARK CHEST OF WONDERS - As an opener I expect something to grab me and this did. The fast riffing of the guitars along with the booming symphonics instantly give you an adrenaline rush and then the singing kicks in and makes it in my opinion one of the best songs... Black Holes And Revelations - Muse ... the moment there seems to only be a couple of contenders for the biggest band in Britain. In the eyes of most Coldplay will be leading the way, followed closely by the young pretenders to the thrown, The Arctic Monkeys. One band that tends to be forgotten about until they decide to release some new material are Muse. Once dubbed the new Radiohead they have come on leaps and bounds since their debut album Showbiz and they returned a few weeks ago with their 4th studio album. Whiplash Smile - Billy Idol ... releasing 2 solid albums in the early 1980s, Billy Idol became on the icons of the decade, his spiky, bleached hair and trademark sneer and fist pump became almost as synonymous a caricature of a punk as Sid Vicious, despite the fact Idol was quickly moving away from his punk roots in Generation X. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Red Hot Chili Peppers ... looking at this particular album for the red hot chili peppers today, it is important to remember just how different the music was 20+ years ago, which is pretty much when this album came out (1984). In a contemporary sense this album is not worth listening to, especially when compared to the much more modern Californication , By The Way and Stadium Arcadium . However once listened to a few times this album works the old chilis magic and becomes much more appealing. If you are however, older than me and were perhaps a teenager when this album was out then then ignore the above as when it was released to you it was contemporary.
