Gatecrasher Classics ... is a name linked with uplifting trance music. The sound of Gatecrasher was at its peak in the late nineties. It still has its followers, though the success will probably never be matched again. This album gathers fifty of the so called Gatecrasher classics and spreads them over three discs. Check out the epic Suburban Train by Tiesto, which sounds like a locomotive on a very quick journey. An explosion of soaring synths and a bassline to knock you sideways, brilliant and brash. 1998 by Binary Finary is stunning with some key changes which will make you go all funny inside, you can literally taste the eurphoria in this one. Hip Hop Classics ... Hop Classics" is a huge compilation of sixty covering pretty much the history of hip-hop. I am a casual listener of hip-hop and I am certainly no expert on thegenre, and I am pretty sure this CD is aimed at people like me. Most avid Hip-Hop fans will already have the majority of songs on this CD already. "Hip Hop Classics" is divided into three CDs. There doesn t seem to be any particular trend on any of the CDs, so I think the people behind this just picked forty or so hip-hop tracks that were in the charts between 2002 and 2006 , added a few oldies like Aeromith s "Walk This Way" and the Sugarhill gang s "Rapper s Delight" f... Greatest Hits Of The 80's ... eighties hits compilation, spanning three discs and including an impressive 44 tracks, so you certainly get a lot for your ten quid. I am less impressed with the bland cover artwork, which has clearly been knocked up in five minutes. Anyway, let s see the highlights. Duran Duran seem to figure on every eighties album and here they are with The Reflex. A wicked piece of pop music with exuberant vocals from LeBon and a very catchy chorus. To me, this epitomises the sound of eighties pop music. For some synth bliss, Giorgio Moroder and Phil Oakey s Together In Electric Dreams is just glorious with such nostalgic sounds and a commanding vocal from Oakey. Ultravo...
