50 Number Ones - Strait George ... and you cant stop singing. All My Ex s Live In Texas and Love without End, Amen complete the George Strait tracks that everyone should own. The majority of the rest of the tracks are radio friendly filler which would offend no one. I have to comment on one further song and that is I Just Want To Dance With You. If you have ever heard the version by Daniel O Donnell and cringed, worry not. This version by Strait is the way the song should be heard. George Straits latest album Twang just shot to number one in the US pop charts and is his 23rd Country chart topping album. No Other & Expanded - Gene Clark ... still have the original vinyl recording of this album from 1974 (just shows how old I am) and I think it has taken me almost all of that time to fully appreciate the beauty of this forgotten gem. Forget all about Clarks sojourn with The Byrds, this is nothing like any of the material they were producing even when Gram Parsons was doing his country thing with them. Thre is nothing poppy or jaunty on this album, just the masterful sounds of a man baring his soul. The opening track Lifes Greatest Fool is probably the most accessable track on the album for the casual listener and could probably be described as The Eagles on valium. Little Bit Of Everything - Billy Currington ... Currington first came to my attention when he dueted with Shania Twain on the track Part for Two on Twains Greatest Hits album in 2004. His voice is pretty undistinguishable from a of lot the latest production line of male country singers. Therefore Currington has to rely on the material to be a significantly higher standard than his peers to make him stand out from the crowd. Unfortunately based on the material it looks like he is not going to be picked out of any identity parades soon. This is his third album and I have to say it is a big disappointment.
