I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight - Richard and Linda Thompson ... compilation of songs by Richard Thompson and Linda Thompson taken from material written during the fairport covention and later solo work. The songs are all performed and re recorded by Richard and Linda Thompson (not original recordings). Richard Thompson was a member of the popular folk group Fairport Convention of the late sixties and seventies. After he left he produced recordings as a solo artist and with Linda Thompson. This album contains music of the same genre (folk rock) and includes hits from the days of Fairport convention. In my opinion this album does not reflect the brilliance of some of Richard Thompson s solo work and it lacks the feeling and characte... Collection - Tracy Chapman ... compilation of Tracy Chapman s finest work show casing some of her best tracks. From the opening track, Fast Car the album is guaranteed to lift any listener s spirits. The songs themselves are maybe not the happiest in terms of content, but they do lend themselves to a certain happier feeling. In my opinion the clear winners of the best song of the album are Fast Car (who can fail to love that song?), Bang Bang Bang and Talkin About A Revolution. They all have a quiet and unassuming quality and are brilliant to listen to while working being good music without being over stated and invasive. The Best Of The Pogues - Pogues ... Pogues have written some great songs and this collection is an excellent introduction to Shane McGowan s song writing talent. The disc contains a good selection from their various albums with both the raucous hell for leather, breakneck tunes like Streams of Whiskey, Sally McLennan and Fiesta up against McGowan s slower more soulful melodies such as A Pair of Brown Eyes and a Rainy Night in Soho. Although this compact disc is a good introduction to the band it does miss much of their first and best album Red Roses for Me .
