Station To Station - David Bowie:
... this album, its unadventurous style doesn’t really sum up the rest of the album which, while not prog rock or anything so complex, demands a greater attention span and taste threshold.
Having clearly revealed myself as something of a pretentious prog fan, it’s no surprise that the overlong title track is my favourite on here by a long way, and the reason I choose to play this album at all. Some would no doub... Read the full review: Choo Choo by Frankingsteins |

Songbird - Eva Cassidy ... (4:16) 7) "I Know You By Heart" (3:59) 8) "People Get Ready" (3:16) 9) "Oh, Had I A Golden Thread" (4:49) 10) "Over The Rainbow" (4:57) The album is mostly acoustic with use of smooth, soft and gentle guitar strings, accompanied by a blend of high and low mixed piano notes, and the hauntingly angelic voice of Eva Cassidy. I don't think any words I could ever write or say could ever do justice to the sheer majesty and crystal angelic quality of Eva's voice. She was truly blessed and it is evident in her singing. There are certain tracks on the album that demonstrate her diverse repertoire of blues, folk, gospel, pop and jaz... Read the full review: Soulful Poetry.... by newty1977 |

David Bowie - David Bowie ... voice opens the horn-led ‘We Are Hungry Men,’ sounding similar to some of the artist’s later ballads (Bowie, not Hitler, obviously), this song is the first on the album that would benefit from lasting longer. 7. When I Live My Dream 8. Little Bombardier 9. Silly Boy Blue 10. Come and Buy My Toys The slower pace of the subsequent songs spoils the simplistic fun slightly, the dull orchestration on ‘When I Live My Dream’ causing the song to outstay its welcome, especially in comparison to the two-minute openers. The same goes for ‘Little Bombardier’ which, although lasting under four minutes, is undeservingly the longest song on the album. ‘Silly Boy Blue’ and ‘Come ... Songbird - Eva Cassidy ... (Live version only available through WinMX). Written by Jacques Prévert/Johnny Mercer/Joseph Kosma and is actually a French song. The song was originally written for “Les Portes de la nuit” and has also been covered by Sinatra, Willie Nelson, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington…Set when the summer has just passed a lover remembers his/her loved one as having a tan and then they are no longer around. Those happy times have passed and each day is growing longer. The time is now autumn and they are watching the leaves fall…The time when they most miss the person. 4. Wayfaring Stranger can be found on ‘Eva By Heart’. It is also Trad. Arr. Eva Cassidy. This is another of her scratch... Read the full review: Songbird - that she is! by sirg0508 |
