Advantages: Quality lyrics

Disadvantages: 'Postcard Of A Painting' is quite a weak track

A Certain Trigger is probably my favourite of all Indie albums that this decade has produced, rivalled closest by the follow-up Maximo album, 'Our Earthly Pleasures'.

Opening with 'Signal And Sign' - the gradual volume increase of the drum intro, followed by the catchy distorted riff, merely signifies the rest of what is a thoroughly light-hearted album.

Paul Smith's lyrics are probably the highlight of the album - take note of 'The Coast Is Always Changing's' words, in-particular. The Northern roots of the band shine through in the lyrics, and this is somewhat touching for a northern lad such as myself.

The different approach of certain songs, namely 'Now I'm All Over The Shop' not only deterrs the album from conventional indie, but also qualifies the album as not only enjoyable to listen to, but as ambitious and clever, too.

Whilst the likes of Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs tend to claim the majority of Indie kid's hearts... Maximo Park certainly stake a great claim for themselves with this brilliant album.

Summary: A Superb Indie Album
