I love this woman. She is a singer/ songwriter from Scotland.
The album is folk/ rock with a poppy twist. It contains the single Don't Tell Me That It's Over which is an upbeat folky pop song focusing on a failing relationship. The song is very well written and produced and I love the Scottish twang that comes across in Amy's voice. I love the song very much and although it's meant to be sad it's actually quite uplifting. I also enjoy listening to the single Love Love which is another upbeat pop song. I love the way the song flows. It's another feel good song on the album and Amy sings the song with passion which makes the song come across as very convincing. It's also quite foot tapping, you can't help but hum along to it!
The whole album is great from start to finish. It's packed full of great songs and there are no fillers on the album whatsoever. It's certainly very polished. The album focuses on themes such as relationship breakdowns, friendship, life lessons and love. It's easy to relate to as well as being easy to listen to.
The upbeat songs are catchy and the ballads are beautiful without coming across as cheesy. Amy has a wonderful voice and heaps of talent. She has clearly put so much into this album and it has paid off.
I would recommend this album. It's just fantastic.
I loved Amy McDonald's last album , This Is The Life , which was released in 2007. For me it was an album that really stood out because it was very different to what a lot of other artists were doing at the time. After not hearing from Amy (chart wise)for a couple of years , I assumed that her album was just a 'one off' and that she would not be returning to the music scene. So when I heard that she had another album coming out , I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy.
A Curious Thing is the second album from Amy McDonald and was released in the United Kingdom on March 8th 2010. The album which comes under the rock , soft rock and indie rock genres ,features thirteen tracks including the album's debut single 'Don't Tell Me That It's Over. The album is available to buy from Amazon for a price of £6.99 which I think is a great price considering that the album was only released last month.
The thing that stood out the most for me when listening to this album was how underated Amy is! I mean how many other twenty two year old musical artists , in the charts , write all of their own songs , are happy to have their own style of music and aren't afraid to be different (not counting Lady Gaga here!). She really is amazing! I love her voice as it is so unique and really adds a sparkle to her songs. She was outstanding on her debut album , but with this album it's obvious as to how much she has progressed and matured since then. In fact I think that this album might just be a little bit better than her first.
These days , it's not that you come across an album which you like every single song on there. This album has some great tunes on here , each one tells a story which you can almost always relate to. It's obvious that Amy has taken a lot of time and effort to perfect these. The tracks which stand out the most for me on this album are : Don't Tell Me That It's Over , Love Love and Dancing In The Dark.
If you loved Amy's debut album then you'll absolutely love this!
Thanks for reading!
