Rating:
Before reviewing this album, anyone will automatically look towards the first album, Leftism, before listening. This has mixed blessings. First, Leftism is a classic. It's slow building poularity, to current multi-platinum status, was due to a mix of basslines, songs and a real progression across the album from chilled to big, ...

Rhythm And Stealth - Leftfield
by froze - written on 06/07/00 (Useful, 13 readings)
Rating:
This CD was slated by some people for not being as good as Leftism but that is a bit unfair as this is not bad at all. It is hard to describe the style, most of the tracks have a hard techno beat and baseline but are much slower than real techno. You will know the start of 'Phat Planet' from that guinness advert with the waves and the ...

Leftism - Leftfield
by baloobear - written on 07/07/00 (Very useful, 30 readings)
Rating:
dance album of all time. Nuff said. This album has it all, the beats the bass the ambience the tighter than tight productions and guest vocalists to die for. The Leftfield boys pulled Jon Lydon off the streets to snarl over one track and managed to dig Toni Halliday out of her post Curve silo to seduce the speakers on one of the most amazing collaborations of dance music history. Bringing their love of dub and punk together with a passion for hard house and techno the producers of Leftism were on a simple rationale....make it kick, echo and kick some more. The amaxing Melt is an ideal way to start a techno house DJ set with its melancholic swells, Song of Life is a ...

Lock Up The Wolves - Dio
Valiant effort.
Sub-par incarnation of the band can't achieve too much.
Lucidity - Delain
Strong guitars, soaring keyboards and excellent vocals
Growly vocals feel a little out of place at time
Holy Diver- - Dio
Unadulterated heavy metal with great vocals and memorable guitars.
Repetitive structures.
Kal - Kal
A sublime fusion of roots and more modern music
Not as good as some contemporaries
Killing The Dragon - Dio
Returns to tried-and-tested ground.
Fails to live up to the old standard.
Kobzar - Haydamaky
Some superb music
The flute on one or two tracks does my head in
Last In Line - Dio
More classic metal, with Dio's best song in the title track.
Essentially nine more tracks of the same.
Leave Scars - Dark Angel
A heavier take on eighties thrash.
Less memorable than its predecessor.
Lady Of The Lore - Desdemona
Fun power metal.
Heard it all before.
