Cheryl Cole is very famous for being one fifth of Girls Aloud, being a former X Factor Judge, former wag. Weather you like her or not, you've got to admit that she's come far in life. She's also very adorable and gorgeous, which helps her being one of the most respected woman in the music industry. But she's also hated for an apparent lack of vocal talent. A Million Lights is her third studio album that quickly stood out with the success of her lead single, Call My Name.
Even though a lot of the music is kinda similar to the songs on her previous albums, this album takes more of a dupstep direction. It's certainly got some club vibes though. This is the reason that Cheryl sounds different to the previous albums. Just like her other albums her vocals are edited. On this album, I think they are edited to the extreme.
There are some tracks that are the exceptions and Cheryl does show a little bit of a range there, but I don't think it's anything exceptional. The quality of the vocals really do make an impact on the album. Because of the edited vocals, I think that this album lacks a real identity. There are plenty of songs that make you think of Cheryl, but there are some parts of the vocals that made me think of Rihanna or Cher Llyod. I don't hear anything on this album that would suggest she's a member of Girls Aloud. I think Cheryl's raw and shaky voice has potential. But I think the overuse of autotune and other vocal editing takes some of her credibility away.
The lyrics are of a decent standard, but there's nothing completely outstanding. You don't get is very often, but the bonus tracks in the deluxe version are actually a lot better than the non single tracks on this album. I'm sure a lot of people know the song, Call My Name. I thought it was a really decent song that had some really great build up.
The non-single tracks, I'm kinda disappointed in because they don't sound like Cheryl to me. They sound like Rihanna, Tulisa, Cher Llyod and a computer. Pretty much everyone else but her. Which is a shame, people buy her music to listen to her, but I can't really hear her in some of the songs.
My favourite song from the album is a song called One Thousand. I love the song because it sounds really thunderous with the drumming and it's got a really catchy chorus. One Thousand is a classic song from Cheryl and would be a great single choice. Since it's a bonus track, I'll doubt that it will happen. I think One Thousand is close to becoming my favourite song from Cheryl. I think it's got that intensity that a lot of her other songs kinda lack.
One good thing that all of the songs have is that they're good for getting into the summer dance mood because of how catchy they are. The album is consistent, but sadly not many of the tracks stand out by themselves.
In A Nutshell it's a decent pop album. It's disposable, but decent nevertheless. With this review, I'm sure you can make your own decision of weather this album is worth getting or not.
A Million Lights is the third album from British pop star Cheryl Cole. The album was released in the United Kingdom in June 2012 and so it is very recent. The album is currently selling from Amazon for a price of £13.00 which I do think is quite expensive, especially as you can get more recent albums for a lot cheaper.

To be honesty, I find that all the songs on here sound the same. The ones that do stand out for me are 'Call My Name' and 'Girl In The Mirror'. There is a real 'euro-pop' / 'euro-dance' feel to this album which means that it blends in with all the other music in the charts right now.
A lot of the songs are quite catchy and have a girl power feel about them. I can't resist singing along. it's a real summery album; one you could imagine playing loudly whilst driving to the beach with the windows down. It's also a great CD to play at a part or for when getting ready to go out as it really puts you in the party mood.
Not wanting to sound harsh, but Cheryl Cole cannot sing! So surprise surprise there is a huge amount of autotune being used on this CD which is really annoying. You may as well have ea robot singing.
This album is a completely new direction for Cheryl Cole. It's much more lively than her two previous albums. A lot of the songs on here contain strong heavy beats and so I would say that the songs are ones which you could imagine being played in a club as they have a very 'clubby' feel to them.
If you like Cheryl, then I would recommend this album.
Thanks for reading!

Usually when people say artists who I like can't sing I usually tell them to listen to their debut albums, but that's completely different for Cheryl Cole. Her third album 'A Million Lights' is her best album yet with club banging beats, her vocal ability has definitley improved compared to her debut album which was released in 2009 '3 Words' and that follow up released in 2010 'Messy Little Raindrops'.
The opening track to the album 'Under The Sun' is a perfect chilled out song which you could listen to over and over again in the summer whether, you're listening to it on your IPod by the pool/sea or blasting it from your stereo in your garden while topping up your tan, this track is definitley pop influenced, lyrics and vocals are both amazing too!
The second track and lead single 'Call My Name' is an extremely catchy dance track written and produced by Calvin Harris. The beats are banging and this song is a perfect song choice to start any party
One of my favourite songs in a long time!
Third track features one of her best friends in the industry Will.I.Am whom has worked with Cheryl on hits like 'Heartbreaker', '3 Words' and Ncki Minaj track 'Check It Out'. Together on this song is electric, if this was released as a single I have high faith that it would be a huge hit, with his unusual beats rocked in to this beautifully written dance track. Love it!
Fourth track 'Girl In The Mirror' is a funky ballad/dance track with Cheryl "picking little fights with the girl in the mirror" its a fun and rereshing song with a the breakdown of the song full of dubstep. One of the best from this album!
Fifth track 'A Million Lights' is a beautiful ballad, the beats are slick and her vocals sound absolutley fantastic in this song. I love this song.
Sixth track 'Screw You' features Wretcha 32, whom I had never heard of until I bought this CD. The vocals are amazing in this song, beats are fantastic and the producing is fantastic. This is also one the best songs off the album.
Seventh track 'Love Killer' is probably my favourite song off this album and possibly my favourite song from Cheryl's career thus far. It is influenced heavily by dubstep which works very well on this track, her vocals sound sharp and determined. A very good pop song from Cheryl Cole!
Eighth track 'Ghetto Baby' is a soft sang ballad which is a very catchy pop song, lyrically I think iys fantastic. Its one of them songs I can never see myself getting tired of.
Ninth track 'Sexy Den A Mutha' is the most similar song she has ever done that can be compared back to her Girls Aloud roots. Its a very fun upbeat song that reminds me very much of Girls Aloud's hit single 'Sexy! No No No'. One of my favourites from her 3rd album.
Tenth track 'Mechanics Of The Heart' is another ballad which really shows off her her vocal ability, for people who say she can't sing I would reccomend them this song. I love it!
Eleventh and final track 'All Is Fair' begins with unusual beats, which if you've read any of my other reviews on music I absolutley love. Its another song which shows of her vocal ability. Its quite a slow song but one of those you cant help but sing along to.
