The year is 2003 and things have got so bad in the music world that the top 40 has no more than 15 manufactured artists in the current top 40. These so called entertainers haven't an ounce of talent between them and haven't had to work hard to where they've got to. This time next year, another fifteen will roll off the production line and replace this current fifteen which will all have fallen by the wayside. The sad thing is that we, the consumers fall into the trap and buy what is on offer ! However, all is not lost, there is still some real talent out there. Coldplay is an example.... Its high time the highfalutin bands start packing and go back where they came from. The so-called “celeb” music and things like that will meet their doomsday. Things change. I’m glad there’s Coldplay --- for genuine music fans with no-nonsense substance and austerity in their music. Starting off with “Yellow” as their gambit, Chris Martin (vocal/piano/guitar), Guy Berryman (bass), Jonny Buckland (guitar) and Will Champion (drums) have overawed the world making an indelible mark with a seamless collision of vocal and the rest of the instruments. “A Rush of Blood to the Head” - their sophomore album is one thing you ... The good news is that Coldplay have consolidated their billing as the shining lights most likely to. The downside is that they have yet to mastermind a revelatory record. While 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head' is never less than an interesting listen it has the unfortunate knack of repeatedly kicking in the headway it so eloquently carves out for itself. 'Parachutes' was similiarly maligned. With a decent sprinkling of 2000's best songs ('Don't Panic' remains their most rounded effort to date) it faltered when the tempo espoused ill timed soul searching. The new album has songs to steal your heart but there are also a few ideas that ... Read the complete review

Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002) Producer: Coldplay, Ken Nelson Politik In My Place God Put a Smile upon Your Face The Scientist Clocks Daylight Green Eyes Warning Sign A Whisper A Rush of Blood to the Head Amsterdam If Parachutes showed us Coldplay the indie rockers, their second album, A Rush of Blood to the Head, sees the band take a more bold and widescreen approach to their song writing. Think of the Coldplay you see on this album as a more down-to-earth version of U2 and you will be going in the right direction. I really want to talk about the singles first ... A Rush Of Blood To The Head is a the sophomore album from British band Coldplay, its a remarkable album and unusually for an artist this second album eclipsed the first in its popularity, going platinum a total of 8 times. Its a brilliant album so lets dive right in. In My Place Beginning with thumping drums before melodic guitar riff and soft strings and organ. Chris whines and pleads (the best way of describing his vocal style) over the organ and industrial sounding drums for the verses before the twangly guitar and strings reunite with us for the explosive chorus. The songs sounds like its about past mistakes a guy has made and regretting them. Its a ... Read the complete review
