I must admit that I was bracing myself for a slightly disappointing album that could never live up to Parachutes, but boy was I wrong! From the opening crashing beats of Politik to the euphoric ending of Amsterdam this is an album that will take you on a discovery through the best of modern day music. You've all heard the singles. From the up-lifting In My Place to the heart-felt The Scientist, they are superb songs. But this album is so much more than the singles, every song is a possible single, and how many albums can you say that of? Listen out for Green Eyes, a modern folk-rock song much in the style of a modern Bob Dylan. If you ever thought that lyrics were Coldplay's weak point, listen to the title track of this album. The words moved me especially with the immortal line "I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war, if you can tell me something worth fighting for". A line that is even more relevant given the state of present war.
I could go on about this album all day, but I won't bore you! Go out and buy it, shut the door of your room and listen to it at full blast! Trust me, you can't fail to be moved
