After the relative failure of Belgian singer Lara Fabian's English debut CD in 2000, she returned to the Francophone market, releasing the album "Nue", which yielded a couple of big hits in France in "J'y Crois Encore" and "Tu es mon autre", a duet with Mauranne. In 2004 however she released another English language album on Sony, entitled "A Wonderful Life". Unfortunately, record executives often dictate the character of a musical product. In this instance, the dollar-signed vision of the SONY brass thought about marketing, not creativity, and, for the most part, the production and arrangements of "Wonderful Life" lack the intimacy that is so typical of Lara Fabian's French-language albums. If you think understanding the lyrics gives you more access to this singer, you'll be mistaken, for there is, as well, little sense of the sadness or irony which is often the feature of the songs those other CDs include. ‘A Wonderful Life’ is the 2004 English language album from Lara Fabian. I was given this CD as a Christmas present and it hasn’t yet been out of my CD player! This is a 12 track CD featuring original material as well as English versions of a couple of her French tracks and one previously released track by Black which became the title for this album. Lara’s previous releases have all been mainly French language except from a 2000 world-wide release called Lara Fabian which was her debut and only other English album.
