Abacab - Genesis

I am a lifelong fan of Genesis and remember that when this album was released in 1981 my big sister bought it. Now, my sister was into 'cool' punk bands and was not a typical Genesis fan but she had been stung by the hard rock flair of the album's title track 'Abacab'. Infact this is one of the more heavier rock songs produced by the band during this period with dramatic percussion, a twisted electric guitar and gruff, moody vocals. The movement towards a more pop orientated sound is quite obvious though too and this is reflected in other songs on the album such as 'No Reply' and 'Keep It Dark'.
