by samanosuke74 - written on 05/12/06 (Very useful, 226 readings)
Rating:
Babylon album in 2003, The Cosmic Game is expected step forward, and not just that, it is breathtaking musical experience for TC fan’s but surely will attract new ones. Thievery Corporation is one unusual duet. They mix, blend and experiment with music and the products is finest music you could hear this days. If you like down tempo, jazz, boss nova, samba, oriental ethno, reggae and rock music, just try to imagine all this on one album. Then add some guests like Perry Farrell, David Byrne, Gunyan, Loulou, Notch, Sleepy Wonder, Verny Varela, The Flaming Lips and few others you’ll have The Cosmic Game. Don’t let this make you think it is another remix type of album ...

Rating:
Let me explain what Thievery Corporation is/are 2 gentleman, Rob Garza and Eric Hilton. They both reside in Washington DC, USA. They met once at what is now known as Eighteenth Street Studios and started making music together because of their passionate love for "Bossa Nova" now they make music in this unique style and tour the world and the most imporant thing! They own their own label and release from it, so they have 100% artistic freedom. Now the majoy drawback of this is simple, they don t have the exposure that other bands get but they will not swop this for anything. Sound from the Thievery Hi Fi was the first album I bought from them and it was their ...

Rating:
If thumping bass-beats, frantic drum-lines and wailing lyrics are yout thing, look somewhere else. If, on the other hand, you prefer a more 'cultured' tune and are looking for the perfect CD for lazing around to in the summertime, you could do a lot worse than The Mirror Conspiracy! Just about every type of laid-back melody can be found on this CD. Blending seamlessly from tune to tune, it's difficult to pick out favourites because they run together so well as to make the whole album seem like a single track. Wether played out in the garden on a summers evening, in the car with the windows down or late at night when you just want some mellow sounds to ...
