Advantages: Excellent Album

Disadvantages: None

Next to 'American Doll Posse', I think this is my favorite Tori album yet. It is everything I love about Tori - her amazing vocals and even more amazing voice, fantastic guitar and piano, and unusual melodies and rhythms - at its strongest.

The album starts with 'Give', a hypnotic piece vaguely reminiscent of trance, but spiced up with Tori's characteristic melodic piano playing. The lyrics offer a vampiric take on love (not necessarily lust) which is intriguing and which compliments the music perfectly. The piece is haunting, exciting, and perhaps the best on the album.

Other gems include 'Abnormally Attracted to Sin' (the title piece), 'Fast Horse', 'Mary Jane', 'Starling', and 'Ophelia'. 'Abnormally Attracted to Sin' is, like 'Give', vaguely hypnotic,, but it is the lyrics - with fantasic lines such as 'impeccable peccadillo' - which make this such an attractive piece. 'Fast Horse', by contrast, is a catchy, rhythmic guitar and piano piece reminiscent of the tex-mex feel which characterised some of the best pieces on 'Scarlet's Walk' and 'American Doll Posse'. 'Mary Jane' is a brilliant piano and vocals piece, which is both amusing and thought-provoking at the same time. 'Ophelia' and 'Starling' by contrast are beautiful ballads with wonderfully sad lyrics and soulful piano. 'Starling' reminds me slightly of the earlier 'Black Dove', but is nevertheless entirely original, and just as breathtaking.

Whether you are a long-standing Tori fan, or new to her and wondering which album to start with, I would highly recommedn 'Abnorally Attracted to Sin' and a shining example of the best of Tori.

Summary: Really strong album
