The song will move you, it will mesmerise and surprise. A bit more subdued is Rent, with harsh lyrics and a gut wrenching set of verses. One of my personal faves is the duet with Dusty Sprngfield on What Have I Done To Deserve This. The balance of vocals is superb and Dusty brings a superb mellowness to the song. It is touching and poignant. Production: Even in the mid ei...more

Premium Review Actually - Pet Shop Boys: amazing pop (201 words)

Now this is perhaps the Pet Shop Boys at their finest. They don't do long album titles, it just isn't them. Short and to the point, this album contains some of their music when they were at the peak of their career. So actually, let's see what is on it... Premium Review One More Chance! (1064 words)

Welcome to London, 1987. Two men, impeccably dressed in black tie, greet you. A young Neil Francis Tennant, lead singer of an edgy, breakthrough dance-pop act known as the Pet Shop Boys, yawns at you from the cover of the album. It's been a late night. So it's a bland enough album cover with an almost self-deprecating, embarrassed, title: "Pet Shop Boys, actually". Looks can deceive. Get ready to go on a storming, energy-laden musical journey back in ...  Read the complete review

There are many topics that repeat itself again and again when you speak about the PetShopBoys (PSB) to someone who is not a "fan" of them (almost here in spain). There are two possible answers: " so many years since the last album... discography? " Or "They are over-sweet". In my opinion there are two different stages or eras in the story of this great group. Some of the people who didn't listened about PSB for ages identify PSB as the typical picture of the late 80's (the first stage). The second ones thinks that their music is, most of times, a bit over-sweet 'cos maybe they don't associate the first era 80-91 with ...  Read the complete review
