      jam pakced album

Just the sixty one tracks on this album! I shall analyse each one and discuss its inclusion. Actually, I think I might just pick my favourites, or we could be here for a while!

The album blasts off with the insane 'Omen' by The Prodigy, which is attempt to do another 'Firestarter.' Demonised vocals, creepy and rocking, it gets the album off in style. I prefer the more chilled vibes of 'Pjanoo' which has a High Contrast remix here, takes a while to get going, but when it does you will get lost in that glorious piano sound.

      J. Majik & Wickaman up the ante with the addictive 'Crazy World,' You might know the title but the tune will sound familiar and the production is polished and fluid as the vocals. High Contrast return to empower an Adele track, 'Hometown Glory' works well in a drum and bass format and her soaring vocals underpin the whimsical vibe this one conjures up.

I don't like Kid Cudi's 'Day And Night.' The bassline might be appealing, but the montone vocals bring the track a notch for me and leave me feeling flat and demoralised. I much prefer the remake of Guru Josh which just explodes with frenzied excitement on a saxophone riff. The Wideboys pop up and pump up a September track and also do justice to big voiced Ida Corr on the second disc. Their big room sounds sound superb loud. They also appear on disc three on some remixes.

Where this album succeeds is disc three, bringing to light some classics with a bassline twist. Ultra Nate's anthemic 'Free' and Azzido Da Bass' dark and opressive 'Doom's Night' are two of the highlights here.
The only low point for me is the grimey So Solid Crew, who I would rather not remember! All in all, a jam packed album, loads of remixes, classics and newies and plenty to keep the bassline, drum and bass and garage lover amused.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Not worth buying unless you love the Wideboys or you see it real cheap somewhere.

Got this last year about a week after it was released for a tenner off of play.com after I saw the advert on TV. I still have it, but now that I've ripped all the tracks I wanted to my iPod & Xbox 360 I have no use for it. You see, there are so many bland, generic, filler tracks on there isn't much point sticking it in your car as you'll probably spend an excessive amount of time skipping through tracks & changing discs.

There are 3 discs included, with 20 tracks on the first 2, and 21 on the last. This 'seems' excellent value for money - working out at 16p per track when bought for £9.99. Unfortunately, as I mentioned before, the album is filled with rubbish generic tracks. I only ended up ripping 20 different tracks out of the 61, which isn't great value for money working out at 50p per track.

      ---First Impressions---
The Album cover looks very modern and cool, with traditional Ministry of Sound colour scheme & styling. However when I started playing the music my initially positive first impressions were erased. The first track on each disc is preceded by a baby announcing the name of the album (Min'stry of Sound Addicted to Bass) and then squealing the name of the mixers, 'Wideboys'. I don't particularly like Wideboys and they did a pretty crappy job of mixing this album - I'd rather it'd be unmixed to be honest!

      ---Recommendations---
As I said before, there weren't many tracks on here that I thought were worth paying for. I won't list the whole list of tracks that belong to this album (There are over 60 after all, and this is a review not a description sheet), however I will list some of my highlights:

      Disk 1
      -The Prodigy - Omen
-Pendulum Vs Fresh Feat. $pyda & Tenor - Fly Tarantula
-Eric Prydz - Pjanoo (High Contrast Remix)
-Steve Angello & Laidback Luke Feat. Robin S - Show Me Love (Blame Remix)
-Utah Saints - Something Good '08 (High Contrast Remix)

      Disk 2
-Kid Cudi Vs Crookers - Day 'N' Nite
      -Rudenko - Everybody
-Madcon - Beggin' (23 Deluxe Remix)
-September - Can't Get Over (Wideboys Remix)
-Skepta - Rolex Sweep (Vandalism Remix)

      Disk 3
-Dizzee Rascal - Flex (Dave Spoon Remix)
-So Solid Crew - 21 Seconds
-The Prodigy - Voodoo People (Pendulum Mix)
-Basement Jaxx - Jump N' Shout
      -Groove Armada - Superstylin
      -Genius Cru - Boom Selection

So there you have it, a fairly poor album, filled with generic rubbish. However it does contain some decent mixes of popular songs such as '21 seconds' and 'Boom selection'. I don't recommend you buy it UNLESS you like all the generic filler stuff Wideboys have crammed in or if you see it on offer for a fiver or something.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

I should have listened before I bought

As soon as I saw this advertised on TV I KNEW I had to buy it. so, off I went to HMV and dived straight in there. Ok, so the first thing I notice is it was £9.99 in HMV, meaning it's cheaper to buy it online (as usual). I would recommend getting it from Amazon unless you don't care about the price.

The second thing I noticed was the attractive cover, typical Ministry of sound type colours and layout. not a bad looking box set. The value for money is great, as it's a 3CD box set, 20 tracks on CD 1 and CD 2, then 21 tracks on CD 3. Not bad going.

Well, I was immensely looking forward to playing it, so I ran home and stuck it on. The first thing I hear is the voice of a wee boy, and I hate to say it, but that immediately put me off. I don't know about you guys, but I buy an album for the music. The wee lad introduces each CD, and it is a bit of a let down. Also, the "Wideboys" aren't my personal favourite, and tend to jump straight from track to track, with a lot of off-beat. But never mind, I thought, there's a good few tracks on here so I wont put it down right away.

And I was right, there are a few good tracks. But as the review before mine states, there are a lot of "filler" tracks. Tracks just thrown in there that not many people care about, filling up the space. Ok, so value for money is going down by the second. And there's more.

Addicted to Bass? How about addicted to drums. I was disappointed after I had listened to CD 1 the whole way through. To be honest, you'd probably be best downloading your favourite separate tracks, if BASS is what you're looking for. The truth is, unless you have an amazing subwoofer you probably wont get as much bass out of this album as you should be getting. I've personally tested this on 2 hi-fi systems and a laptop, and it really isn't worth it unless you're playing this album at immense volumes and on a big sub system.

However, I wont be too harsh on this album. Even though there are a lot of downsides and disappointments, there are some decent tracks on there. If you're into Prodigy, Pendulum, Fake Blood etc you wont be as disappointed as I was. Anyway, onto the track listing:

        Disc: 1

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Worth the money

In my opinion the album is a split. It has some great songs on that are really wortht the money, but then it also has many 'filler' songs which tend to ruin the album. It is very good value for money with 3 CDS at 20tracks each one. This means it is well worth spending the money to boost your song amount. Some of the less well known songs on the album are really good finds and enjoyable such as Rikkalicious and the remix of Beggin. The other filler songs all sound very samey and get boring quickly. The album sounds good turned up loud in a car, and for the price you cannot complain about some bad songs. The best songs are found at the start of each disk, and progressively get worse and then Disk 3 is terrible in its own right. The album has some excellent remixes on it, which are worth giving a listen to, and then it does have some poorer remixes to it aswell.

great for parties or in the car

I came across this CD at a friend's house whilst at university, she always used to play it and it had a lot of tracks on it that I actually enjoyed. As a rule, I'm not usually a fan of compilation cd's and never buy them, but this one was different.

In total, there were 3 Cd's in the pack and it cost me £9.99 from HMV, it could possibly be cheaper online somewhere, I've not really looked I'm afraid.

It seems that each CD is a different sort of genre. Disc one being the Drum and Bass one, disc 2 the house one and disc 3, a bit of a mix.

Here is a track listing for those wanting to know:

          21. Majestic Release

All of these track follow on from each other without breaks, which is great for parties etc, or if your like me and hate the 2 second interval between tracks. They have all been mixed by the wide boys to stop this from happening.

The thing I don't like about this CD is the voice of the child at the beginning of each CD saying 'ministry of sound - addicted to bass', I just don't feel that it is needed really and ruins the start of the first track off each of the 3 Cd's. Also, every so often the 'wide boys' seem to like adding their name randomly in to the track, which is pretty annoying and cheesy.

Overall, the CD is of high quality and doesnt skip at allor have any flaws execpt the odd track that I didnt like but that is down to personal preference.
Other than that it is a great CD and I recommend you buy it if you like the tracks, or maybe test it on spotify first to get a feel of it.
