April Ethereal are clearly big fans of Swedish folk/blues/prog influenced extreme metal band Opeth. Not only is their name taken from a track from Opeth's 1998 album, 'My Arms Your Hearse', but the album title, 'Advent' is the name of the opening track from Opeth's 1996 full length, 'Morningrise'. I had modest hopes for the album, anticipating that the band would deliver an endearing but unspectacular homage to their melancholy idols, but even approached with these none-too-high expectations the album proved to be a crushing disappointment.
