Advantages: Brilliant music, superb lyrics, great depth to the album.

Disadvantages: having had to wait so long for it!

Affirmation is a brilliant second album!

Having loved the original Savage Garden, I admit to being concerned that this one would not live up to my high expectations........thankfully I was wrong.

For me the draw of this album are the excellent tracks, depth of emotion and quality of the voices which have led me to love Darren and Daniel's music.

There are the familiar releases Affirmation, I knew I loved you, Crash and Burn and The Animal Song, alongside others, both upbeat and ballad-style tracks. I am less attracted to the "rock" tracks than the slower ones, but it's good to listen to a group who can do both with a decent degree of success.

Personal favourite tracks have to be Affirmation, which is compelling in its' creed-like repetition, Crash and burn in its acceptance of the desperation which life can bring and yet affirmation of something more......and Two Beds and a Coffee machine with its brutal but gently portrayed truths.

Every time I listen to music from these guys, I'm left wondering about the life experiences which have led them to the point of being capable of writing lyrics at such psychological depth. This album gives a fundamental affirmation to the value of life from a point of having seen its pain and heartbreak.

Whether or not that appeals, and it always does to me (!) this is excellent quality music and an album well worth investing in!
