This is a review for the album African Girl by Nayo, a beautiful soul singer from Nigeria. As soon as this CD begins, Nayo's sultry voice, the great lyrics and the strong backing beats set the tone for an album full of chilled yet upbeat songs. It's pretty modern and would be great for background music at a cool dinner party, for getting ready for a night out, or sitting down with a good glass of wine. The closest comparisons I can think of are the music of Dido and Sade. The singles, African Girl and Desert Storm, along with the excellent Mr So & So, are perhaps the most instantly catchy songs and are great for grooving along to. The lyrics ...
