Advantages: Excellent album!!!!

Disadvantages: a couple of lame tracks

Here is my review of Afrodisiac, Brandy's 4th studio album

I have to say, I wasnt expecting too much from this album, her last 2 albums were ok, they had some good singles, a handful of other "okay" tracks and then the rest of the songs were just pretty much fillers, but this album is different.

I think the main strength of this album lies in the producers, Kanye West and Timbaland have a real impact on her sound for this album, there are several tracks which should have been released as singles in my opinion but never were - the excellent "I Tried" and "Sadiddy" are prime examples. Granted, there are a couple of ballads shoved in there somewhere, but these dont really throw enough of a dampener on proceedings to stop this from being an excellent album all round.

Its just a shame that this album didnt really get the recognition that it deserved - after the 1st single, it kind of went off the boil, and the other two singles, Afrodisiac and Who Is She 2 U (again, both of these songs are excellent tracks) had hardly any impact on the charts :O(

I think the fact that over a year later, Im still repeatedly listening to this cd both at home and in my car proves something - it certainly doesnt lose much impact, even after repeated listens.

If you are a fan of r'n'b but never really been into Brandy, this is DEFINITELY well worth a listen because its a whole new different sound for her!

Summary: Excellent - GO BUY IT!!!!!
