If you ask any of your Taiwanese friends who is the most famous female singer in their country, I will bet that 95% of them will say it is Chang Hui Mei (Ahmei) who happens to be from one of the minority races of Taiwan.

Ah mei beomes famous after her first hit song 'bad boy' was out in 1996 (?). The producer of that album and the writer of 'bad boy', who had been the biggest influence in Ah mei's fame today, Chang Yi Seng met a deadly accident in the following year. However, all the sadness associated with that didn't not stop Ah Mei become the most popular star in Tawian today.

Ah Mei's concert in mainland China was cancelled by the Chinese authority because she was invited and sang during the new Taiwanese president swearing in ceremony. China regarded the new president as a threat to the re-union of the country due to his party's pro-democracy policy.
