The ever building prowess of the kings of leon has a lot to owe to this album, however if you've heard any of their new stuff compared to some of this, you'll be able to see just how much they've evolved, and what of their orignal make up they've kept. There is a lot more of a country feel to this album than newer stuff, but that does nothing to take away any of the rock roots that this band have had all the way through- such tracks as 'the bucket' and 'four kicks' show this rock side in its best form on this album; however there is always that country element through the whole of this album that lets you know you're listening to KOL. The arrival by the Kings Of Leon onto the rock scene went pretty much unnoticed by me to be honest and whilst I was aware they were the newest ’big thing’ I didn’t buy or really listen to their debut album. I think the only 2 songs I heard from that album were ’Molly’s Chambers’ and ’Holy Roller Novocaine’, which I liked but never pursued the interest further than that.
