      Pretty good!

In the late 60s, the lead guitarist on the first Jethro Tull album wasn't happy with the outcome of the album and decided to set up his own band, the awkwardly named Blodwyn Pig. With a name like that, it's just as well that the music isn't uber-commercial, as it simply wouldn't have worked!

Musically it's a guitar let to run riot and a mix of blues, jazz and rock styles - the sound is often extremely clean but at the same time the band have no problem getting across gritty blues sounds either. Vocally it's not what I expected and I'm still not sure if the slightly folky, slightly poppy vocals fit the blues tracks in particular - the voice lacks gravel and age which frankly doesn't fit the lyrical content which tend to be about love, relationships and hard times in a typical bluesy style. Immensely jazzy guitar solos are perhaps the most enjoyable part of this album and they lead you into a far away land, they also have a tendency to improve and fascinate even more with every listen.

Stylewise it reminds me of a softer Manilla Road due to its focus on instrumental music and the way that the songs seem to lead off in all different directions that initially seem to lack focus but actually make wonderful songs eventually.

Until recently, I'd never heard of these guys but this album impressed me, it's no where near one of my favourites but I think it definitely encourages me to listen to more of their music.
