In A Gypsy Style is the first album by Seattle based band Ala Zingara who are now a quartet but back in 2001 with their debut were just a trio. I Love My Girl with the Formaldehyde breath is a classic little song with some great vibrato on the guitar and very expressive vocals. This album has a very middle-eastern feel, Egyptian in particular with tracks like Nubia and the hypnotic Dede which sounds a lot like a chilled out, slowed down Firewater track. Black Eyed Susan whilst technically being good, has too much of a classical influence and lyrics which wear - it's my least favourite track of the album.
