Feeling' contain the only traces of the funk rock sound that the band pioneered along with other bands such as the wildly overrated Red Hot Chili Peppers, and this album is best taken and appreciated as a more mellow offering from the band, apparently produced with very little input from singer Mike Patton whose eccentricity was a large part of the previous two albums' success. 'Ashes to Ashes' and 'Last Cup of Sorrow' are the two most instantly gratifying songs here, possessing great choruses led by Patton's oration,...more

Premium Review Album Of The Year - Faith No More: Album of the Year (254 words)
by - written on 07/07/08 (Very useful, 24 readings)
Rating:

'Album of the Year' is Faith No More's reasonably disappointing swan song, a half-hearted and seemingly incomplete work that at least has the advantage of being more commercially accessible, though ironically it fared significantly less well in the music charts than the band's previous works. Many of these songs are instantly forgettable, and very few possess the distinctive Faith No More charisma. 'Mouth to Mouth' and 'Got That Feeling' contain the only traces of the funk rock sound that the band pioneered along with other bands such as the wildly overrated Red Hot Chili Peppers, and this album is best taken and appreciated as a more mellow offering from the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Album Of The Year? Most definitely! (265 words)

This is my favourite FNM album, which is odd, as most FNM fans believe this to be their worst album. Being their last album as they split up not long after, it is said that it was rushed and that patton was far more interested in his other projects such as Mr Bungle, Tomahawk and Fantomas, that he really wasn't bothered with FNM any longer. This is full of 'moody' tracks for want of a better word to describe. I find it quite dark, but some of the lyrics are fantastic and Patton sounds incredible. The best known tracks on the album are probably 'Ashes to Ashes' and 'Last Cup Of Sorrow' which both feature on The Best Of. 'Naked In Front Of The Computer' ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Album Of The Year - Faith No More: Loosing my Faith (923 words)

Rating:

The oh so modestly named ‘Album of the Year’ ended up being Faith No More’s final release. A year after the albums release in 1997 the band unexpectedly called it a day and that was that. Singer Mike Patton started a record label, formed Fantômas and did his duties as part of Mr Bungle as they pulled their finger out and finally recorded a third album. Keyboard player Roddy Bottum moved to vocals and guitar in his own band, Imperial Teen (A bit dull I’m afraid!). Bass man Billy Gould started a record label and formed a Brazilian death metal band (As you do). Drummer Mike Bordin worked as a session drummer for artists ranging from Ozzy Osborn to ...  Read the complete review

Heavy riffs, Mellow tunes too None I don't think

great sounding, love them!, good album maybe too heavy for some

Musically complex and artistic, Heavy and melodic, Interestingly blasphemous lyrics Too heavy for many peoples' tasteMay upset, offend or confoundNot as melodic or hilarious as the 1998 album

Nu Metal - 1998

A highly rewarding and challenging listening experience for those looking for unique Metal May be difficult to understand in the first few listens

Lead singers voice has improved, great guitar and drums A lot of it grows on you - short time disadvantage, long time advantage!
