... was not let down by this album. The opener (title track), is a slow almost dreamy song that is one of the darkest songs lyrically i have ever liesened to. The use of a muted sax and a brushes rubbing a snare to make it sound like a record that you are listening to a record are only some of the genius that i can type on the album because its so beautiful it's hard to put into words how you feel when listening to it. I am a big Tom Waits fan and ave been from I first bought 'used songs' after hearing many stories about the legend himself. Many of you may know this is a concept album based on a play Kathleen Brennan wrote about Lewis Carrols obsession about Alice Liddel the supposed reason he wrote 'Alice in wonderland', though if the albm is anything to do with the relationship Tom Waits has never said. After hearing the title song od this album I rushed out to buy the album and was not let down by this album.
