      Very helpful

A pleasure for all who care to listen- trust me

Recorded in 2002, Louisville, Kentucky, an exemplary collection of inspiring live songs by the sensational Alison Krauss and impeccably talented Union Station band.

Alison Krauss is an American blue-grass country singer/ musician who also writes songs and plays the fiddle. After her solo album she joined the band called Union Station and released her first album with them back in 1989. She has revitalised blue-grass music in America and her popularity has led to performing many soundtracks. She has won 26 Grammy Awards which stands as the most awarded female artist in Grammy history. Bluegrass is a combination of American folk music and country music.

Alison's voice in arrangement with the instruments creates a sound that is truly stunning. The album I write about is live but fortunately requires no heavy over dubbing. The sound is crisp and atmospheric and lends itself to being spontaneous. The album provides 2 discs, totalling of 25 individual tracks that all get listened to from start to finish. Not one song will you skip if you enjoy this sound. The songs range in pace; content and mood. There are songs that have a spiritual focus (Down to the River to Pray), romantic essence (You Know I Love You) and others that are sentimental (Faraway Land). Songs begin with an intro which immediately prompts anticipation and then applause. Some of the slower tracks are spine chilling and give you goose bumps (New Favourite). Throughout the album you are in complete touch with the audience and the band. You hear the resonance of the old country and western music of yesteryear and feel all the emotion that makes Alison Krauss a true legendary talent of that scene. In some of the songs, Krauss is harmonised by the gentle male voices from Union Station and in others, are completely lead by male vocals. This gives an attention-grabbing mix throughout.

To buy you will have to fork out about a fiver to your favourite online music shop (Amazon, Play, HMV etc) or listen NOW online somewhere.

This album will always remain one or if not, my absolute favourite of all time. My dad was watching the DVD equivalent one year and I felt compelled to ask about it. Some of my personal favourites are "Lucky One", "Forget about It", "Choctaw Hayride", "New Favourite" and "Stay".

      Now, I am speechless.
