Advantages: Soulful Singer, Catchy tunes
Disadvantages: Frequent use of swear words, Stupid interludes
This is my track by track review of Janet Jackson's All For You album. INTRO- A pointless start to the album.Janet does an impression of some wierdo (Fran Drecher?) which is very odd. YOU AIN'T RIGHT- Janet's voice sounds muffled and disorientated throughout the verses of this song. You can't understand a word she says, but the loud beats and catchy chourus make up for the pathetic verese. ALL FOR YOU- We turn back time and enter a 1980's world in All For You. Happy average stylish track which shows smiling emotions. Obviously, the public liked it cos it got to Number 3. 2WAY FOR YOU- This is just a ten second add on to All For You. COME ON GET UP- Great dance track. Provides all the essential ingredients to make a huge hit single. Lovely drum beats with fairly fast lyrics sung in Janet's normal melodic tone. WHEN WE OOOO- Wow, what a brilliant song! Extremley slow but it doesn't matter on this occasion. The instruments play a skilfull tune which makes this one of the more pleasant songs on the album. CHINA LOVE- Yet another strong song with an aroma of chinese and american music mixed together to make a recipe of love. LOVE SCENE- Another slow song, but this one just repeats itself. Incrediby boring, drowsy vocals sung in a slushy style. WOULD YOU MIND- Wasn't expecting this! The chorus tells you what Janet wants to do to her boyfriends- she's wild! Average in the ways of tune but much better than the last wasted effort. Turns into a bit of an orgasm sketch at the end. LAME- Short interlude on what Janet thinks of men. TRUST A TRY- The best song on the album.Starts off with quiet, fast vocals which turns up into a huge rock ballad! The veres sound a bit like You Ain't Right's, but all in all it's brilliant! Go you wild child megastar! CLOUDS- Interlude with Carly Simon. It's used to introduce the next track. SON OF A GUN- I think this may be a co
ver version of something, Son Of A Gun is reasonably boring. Janet really doesn't put more than 40% effort into this and neither does Carly Simon (who is featured on this track). Very disappointing to hear it's her next single. TRUTH- A perfect chill out classic! Janet's finally singing clearly without an electronic effect or in whispering tones. A bit long though, something like 6 minutes 40 seconds. It's the sort of song that'd be a hit in the soul or jazz charts, definetly not r and b. THEORY- Another pointless interlude. SOMEONE TO CALL MY LOVER- I just love the spanish guitar sound on this! A really happy go lucky pop song which urges you to sing along and dance till the break of dawn! A secure favourite of mine! FEELS SO RIGHT- Similar to Truth except possibly a little worse. Not an epic jounrey into the heart of music, but a basic love song. DOESN'T REALLY MATTER- The theme to Nutty Professor 2, this song is split up into 3 parts. The first part is a pop version. After about 1:40 it becomes a rock mix. Sounds pretty much the same,, then it's dance mix. It's all the same basic song with added effects in the backgorund. BETTER DAYS- Positive note to finish the album with. Janet sings about how she's gonna put her past behind her and start fresh in this scorcher of a last song. OUTRO- It's only 8 seconds so what can I Say? To summarise my review, All For You is a briliant comeback album with all the usual plus extra from the much hyped about star. However, the previous album The Velvet Rope did had more of an impact on me and my music tastes. And, Janet, forget the swearing and sexual content- it doesn't suit you.
