Advantages: All Hits on one Disc
Disadvantages: Not worth it
At first when I heard the All Saints were having a Greatest Hits I was happy and excited. Getting all their singles, plus new tracks, remixes and all! But then I saw the tracklisting. No wonder it only made #19 in the charts. Quite simply it is as the title says - All (their) Hits. Now don't get me wrong - All Saints were great and 90% of their singles were top notch. But they only actually had 8 singles. This means a very short album - and if you are a fan of their's you will probably already have the first two albums. So all you get is the bonus track if Melanie Blatt and Artful Dodger, two boring tracks that were on Saints And Sinners anyway - and a remix which was on the "Pure Shores" single. Out of the songs here, we have complete winners. The #1's in the form of the million seller "Never Ever" - a wonderful ballad that put the All Saints on the map after their average debut. "Under The Bridge/Lady Marmalade" are two of my favourite All Saints song. They have been panned by critics, you will have your own opinions. "Pure Shores" is my favourite All Saints song ever. No more to say. "Bootie Call" is a grower, slinky R&B song, but with lack of strong chorus. "Black Coffee" is like a poor mans "Pure Shores". Still great, but rather similar. "I Know Where Its At", "War Of Nerves" and "All Hooked Up" are thrown in as well, their three non #1 singles. Ask yourself this: Do I like the All Saints? If not, don't buy this - as this is just the singles you have heard which made you dislike them. Do I have the two albums? If yes, don't get this. Its not worth forking out for another album - after only two studio ones. If you do like them, and don't have their albums - then this is for you. As I have the albums, this gets a 3/5 - as its a nice collection, but a bad end to one of the UK's biggest
groups.
