Advantages: A good mix of old and new Slipknot

Disadvantages: May leave die hard fans wanting more

Slipknots new album is not what you will be expecting!
Those who are die hard fans (also known as ''Maggots'') may find themselfs slightly disappointed with this album.
The reason I think this is beacuse its not like the old style they had in the past. For example were before there was heavy tunes such as 'Spit it out' there new songs seem to be watered down slighlty.
Dont get me wrong there are a few (and i mean a few) songs that are a bit like there older stuff but the rest of the album has a more of a 'Stone Sour' feel to it.
Having said this i did enjoy the album and there is a bit of something for everyone, theres a song called 'Snuff' thats sang (yes sang not screamed) perfectly, but it sounds nearly like a power ballard with a Slipknot twist. The song 'All Hope is Gone' is more old school style slipknot that has all the energy that i enjoyed from there past albums.
The rest are more middle ground between rock and metal, and that at times left me wanting more of the old Slipknot energy to be put back in.
The fact that Slipknot havent aged with time and are trying something new, makes me look forward to future albums, as with most bands they stick with the same type of style and fade away.

Overall this album is good but could let the die hard fans down slighlty. For me it was a interesting mix of old and new but sometimes it does lack there old energy.

Summary: Good mix of old and new but a slight let down for die hard fans.
