Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone Review (All Hope Is Gone - Slipknot)
Member Name: Crytek
Advantages: Some brilliant thrash songs on this album. Disadvantages: Some not so good songs included too.
Slipknot have taken a more mainstream route with this - their fourth album. Although a letdown for fans of their first albums, this is still a really good listen. The lyrics are usual Slipknot style - about loss, death and pain. The sound is also very well orchestrated, despite the difficulty of getting nine band members to be able to create coherant sounds all at the same time. Their musical skill is really displayed in this album, rather then their ability to scream, which is also well presented in "All Hope Is Gone" and when Corey screams "THE LIMITS OF THE DEAD" multiple times in "Dead Memories". Summary: If you are just getting into nu metal, this album would be a good place to start. A good listen. |
