Advantages: Great Album, a few memorable songs

Disadvantages: Is hope really gone?

With the success of Volume III and an exceedingly great tour, Slipknot seemed to be showing their comfort zone a little too much with this album.

All Hope Is Gone, The title springs from a vision of the end of all, and no way in hell of stopping it. the word hope seems to be the only positive word i have seen slipknot use in their material.

Straight from the get-go this album does not hold back with unbelievable drumming from joey jordison. Guitars excel further from what they were in Volume III. and the vocals shred through you like a sore throat from hell!

But this is merely the beginning of the album. Once we go straight into songs like Psychosocial, Dead Memories, Snuff we are once again seeing slipknot embrace the alternative much to our delights. Songs like Vendetta, Gematria (The Killing Name) Express early style slipknot, while tracks like sulfur represent the Iowa years.

As this album has succeed in the charts and reviews, I threat at thinking when listening to this album that slipknot may be getting a little too comfortable in their own skin, And that this album may bring further albums watered down, or less content than what there use to be, But as i say this it might be just the beginning of something new and exciting that will both entertain the band and its maggots.

Slipknot to this day still shine a message they had when they first started. Is it still relevant? Yes... is it something we like?? Most definitely... What happens when it ceases to exist? probably not worth thinking about. The metal world still haven't accepted slipknot for what they are yet but there's still time.

All hope is gone is just another period from slipknots life, The next one should be more interesting.

Summary: Recommended to maggots and slipknot-haters

never been a big Slipknot fan myself, but saw them at Donnington this year - They were awesome - might be time to give their studio stuff a try
