Advantages: A strong and solid pop/rock album throughout, thoroughly enjoyable listening

Disadvantages: The title track is a tad weak, but aside from that I can't name any

Following on from the commercially unsuccessful but experimental My December, Kelly decides to go back to basics with a straightforward pop/rock affair reminiscent of her Breakaway album, which was a huge success in the mid 00's.

The first single 'My Life Would Suck Without You' is a reasonably good idea of what to expect, pop/rock with a hint of electro-pop and a bold catchy chorus that bears all the hallmarks of a Max Martin and Dr. Luke production and got Kelly her first UK #1 at the start of the year, the second single 'I Do Not Hook Up' is another punchy pop/rock stomper which was originally a Katy Perry demo, and actually sounds exactly how Kelly Clarkson covering a Katy Perry track would. 'Long Shot' on this album was also penned by Perry.

'Already Gone' is arguably the album's key ballad, and unsurprisingly will be the third single. It was penned by Ryan Tedder who was responsible for hits such as 'Halo' and 'Bleeding Love', it's a touching ballad which instantly catches on. Other highlights on this album include 'Whyyawannabringmedown', a short but sweet fun track with funky drums and guitar rhythms, totally different to anything Ms Clarkson has ever done before and ludicrously addictive, 'If I Can't Have You' is an electro pop/rock stomper, 'Don't Let Me Stop You' is a very basic track and reminiscent of a lot of her previous work, but very effective all the same.

The Special Edition version of this album includes two excellent bonus tracks, including 'Tip Of My Tongue' which I consider to be a very strong song lyrically, 'The Day We Fell Apart' and a DVD documentary of making the album, making the 'My Life Would Suck Without You' video, the video to that single itself and a photo gallery.

Overall this is a thoroughly enjoyable pop album, she didn't have as much personal input as she did with Breakaway or My December, but any Kelly fan should enjoy this.

It wasn't as good as breakaway, but it was alright. I love I Do Not Hook Up, but the annoying thing about this album was her using Ryan Tedder to help her. His own album sucked, so why get him to help. Too many of these songs had a Katy Perry feel to them, that is hwy I think it's not as good as her previous albums :D Kirsty x
