Advantages: good fun and up beat feel good music
Disadvantages: bit dateddispite it only being around 10 years old!
O yes the days of wishing I was uber cool and also wishing I was an American teenager living a punk pop rock life style.
I used to love these guys they had some great lyrics, fun videos and super catchy tunes.
I first heard their single Fat Lip on the radio and fell in love with it. After hearing a couple more of their songs I knew I had to have the album and spent my pocket money on getting their album.
Immediately you can tell these guys just want to have a laugh and make some fun loving music. The front cover of their albums has pictures of the band members all shaking their heads from side to side so that their lips and checks look all disfigured and it is very funny.
The album music is mainly a punky / pop type of music with it edging more onto the metal and screamer rock genre as the final song on the album tries to emphasise. The tracks are all really upbeat and feel good and it is refreshing to know they write and perform on their own songs!
There are song fantastic lyrics especially in the well known Fat Lip and 3 of the members have some singing parts which is nice to hear a mix up of the voices.
The style of music does not seem to be very 'in' at the moment but I do remember about 8 years ago they wee all the rage and very popular. This album is really good but you can hear that their later ones have heavier more full tracks and it is clear that this album is a bit of a stepping stone for their creativity.
Summary: good fun when i was young enver listen to them now though
