When the SUM is 41 (All Killer, No Filler - Sum 41)

I’m sure if you are reading an opinion about SUM 41 then you will knew a little about them, if you are just reading this to find out if I’m any good at writing opinions then I guess I will have to tell you a little about them, for all you non-rockers ill put it in English. J

Sum 41 have released two massive hits in the British charts. The first was Fat Lip a brilliant song with great lyrics and a great drummer to back it up. They then followed this song up with an equally catching song, Ion to deep, which is portrayed as a song about a relationship between a guy and gal, but if you watch the video you also find out that is a competition between the SUM 41 Lads and "The Jocks" at a diving competition. The song is good but the video is better, four guy Jocks in tight trunks what more could a lady like me want?

The Canadian quartet first got together in 1997. The four SUM 41 lads are "Bizzy D", "Brown Sound" the gorgeous "cone"(or is it the mint choc ice-cream that’s gorgeous??) and "Stevo" who is the master on the drums!

I am going to tell you about the better or the more significant songs on the album.

The first "Song" on the album is the introduction to the All Killer No Filler album. The words are as followed are the words on the first song and as you can see are amusing and scary?

"CHILDREN OF THE BEAST EMBRACE
TO SCORN AND HATE THE HUMAN RACE
CONSUME THE LIGHT THAT HUGS THE EARTH
AND ATE THE WOMB ON GIVING BIRTH
TO A GROUP THAT WILL APPEAR, AND GUIDE YOU THOROUGH THE FINAL YEAR
THE DARK ARMIES WILL THEN COME WHEN THE SUM IS 41!"

"Nothing on my Back"

This first song is "OK" I find it a little boring and fairly meaning less. It is fairly repetitive but not with the same lines. This is the song on the album the ii tend to skip due to boredom. It has fairly good instrumental in
the middle of the song, well good drumming, but by the end of this song you get fed up of the line "THERES NOTHING ON MY BACK!"

"Never wake up"

Ok I am REALLY sorry I lied. This song is total s*it sorry but it is how long can you drag out the words "I feel like never waking up?" don’t we all feel like never waking up? Who cares? Sorry but if and member of SUM 41 read this HELLO!!!!! Scrap it, this song is 50 seconds of crap, sorry but well its my opinion. The word on the album cover SUM it up "blah blah blah blah"!!

"Fat Lip"

Much better I love this song. It has brilliant lyrics that we can relate to but in a non boring way. Its starts with a quite instrumental, then the rest is great lyrics. It starts fairly slow compared to the rest of the song in the speed of the singing. You have to feel sorry for the little dude in the song, well like in whreatus’s song "Teenage Dirtbag" you have to like him. The best lines in the song is the whole chorus which rocks and the lines " I like songs with distortion, to drinking in proportion
the doctor said my mom should have had an abortion".
How punk rock are they lines? Every teenager I’m sure could relate to that!

"Rhythms"

This song is again great. Again like the rest of the songs on this album it has great lyrics backed up with a great drummer and two great guitarists. There isn’t much you can say about this song, except that if you heard it on the radio and you hadn’t heard it, it would be catchy but you can instantly tell that it is SUM 41 who is performing this track.

"In too Deep"

this is the second massive hit by the super band, and a great song it is to. Again like I said it has two different meanings the love angle or the diving competition with the great video. In this song the guitar is used to make a background nois
e more than a part of the song that is exceptional and is a main focus on the song. Again I love this song and I prefer the long angle view on the song.

"Summer"

this has to be my ultimate favourite track on the album. It is a fast moving track with clear lyrics and the instrumental is again great in this song. I don’t really have a favourite line in the song because most of the lines are similar and I like the while song rather than a small part of it.

I am glad I bought the SUM 41 album ALL KILLER NO FILLER but I think that they should vary there style a little AND BY THE END OF THE ALBUM YOU ARE FED UP OF THEM. They are a little too repetitive and most of there songs sound similar, but non the less they are still a great band and I hope they keep rocking ( and making great videos!)
