Advantages: Natural High, Great Lyrics, Great Music
Disadvantages: none
The Canadian Pop Punkers Sum 41 release their second album "All Killer No Filler." Their first album titled "Half Hour Of Power," only available in America, is a great album with some catchy tunes to boot. So what can you expect from this new album, well more of the same really. Which is a good thing as, "All Killer No Filler," contains catchy tunes, great lyrics and some amazing solo's. All the songs are fresh and really get you going. Here is a run down of the amazing tracks, contained within this great album: 1.) Introduction To Destruction - Nothing Really to be said about this track as it is just the inro to a great album, quite a weirod start that leads straight into track 2. 2.) Nothing On My Back - This song features on the new Kerrang 2 CD, and will more than likely be released as a single at a later date. The song is a fast paced track, with a great guitar and bass track, the drums are great, and the lyrics are fast and make you on a natural high. A cracking start to the album, getting you in the mood for more fast paced pop punk glory. 3.) Never Wake Up - Is one of the albums, short under a minutes songs. These songs are great due to the speed they are played at. Not many variation in the lyrics, but a catchy tune saves this short song and makes it a blast. 4.) Fat Lip - The debut single for Sum 41 here in the UK. A great track that is quite a heavy track compared to the rest of the album, a really great songs with lyrics about not following rules. A great song lyrically and musically, If you haven't heard this song where have you been? Another great song that proves there is still some life in the punk genre. Also proves that Sum 41 have more to offer than rip off Blink 182 as many accuse. 5.) Rhythms - A good song and fast too, but one of the weaker ones on the album, a good tune but to me the lyrics are not as well thought out as they could b
e, and the tune could probably be pieced together a bit better to. Takes nothing away from the amazing quality of this album though and is still a good song, just not the best. 6.) Motivation - Wow what a great song, which will be released as a single very soon. This song can put you on such a high and is really great to get yourself fired up. Great guitar and bass, fast paced drums amazing lyrics and a really good ending. One of the best songs on the album, slow verse and wild corus. 7.) In To Deep - The second single of this album, and the second single from Sum 41 in the UK. What a great song it is to. A slow song in comparison to the others, but by no means is worse. This song features one of the greatest guitar riffs I have ever heard. Playing bass guitar I can say that this song has a great bass line that is complex but sounds great. An amazing song and possibly the best song on the entire album. 8.) Summer - Again another one of the albums weaker songs, but still quite a good set of lyrics. The tune is not bad, but it doesn't quite strike me as much as the other tracks, still not a bad track and not to be missed, by any means. 9.) Handle This - I really like this song, It has such a great structure. The song is slow but powerful, and its one of the only songs on the album that doesn't raise your spirits due to it's slighlty sad nature. Still doesn't knock you off the high the rest of the album places you on though. 10.) Crazy Amanda Bunkface - A great song, so don't be put of by the title. This is one of those songs that can quite easil get stuck in your head, so be warned. catchy tune and lyrics, which makes this song a great addition to the fab line up. 11.) All She's Got - Another fast song, which remains fast all the way thorugh, the song changes very little throughout. But as the tune is a good one that is not a bad point. The lyrics and tune go together hand in
hand great on this track, a credit to Sum 41. 12.) Heart Attack - Nearing the end of the album (and my opinion :o(....) anyway back to the point, another weaker song in my opinion and doesn't come close to any other tracks on the album, this is the worst track on the album in my opinion. 13.) Pain For Pleasure - A short which is really just there to take the p**S out of the image of some rock groups from the 70's. A comedy song, that will make you laugh, you will still love it though even if it is a bit dodgy, the lyrics hmmmmm ok :O) 14.) Makes No Difference (UK ONLY) - great track added on the end of the UK album. A good song to finish this amazing album of pop punk fast, quircky and makes you leave the album, on the high that started minutes in to it. Great Over all a pop punk fans dream, and a great album to wake up to as it motivates you and puts you an a legal high. (WOOOOOHOOOO) If you like Sum 41 check out these similar groups: New Found Glory Blink 182 Lagwagon Or the other Sum 41 Album from the states which can be purchased on most online shops. America only though remember. Having just got this album (half hour of power) I can say that it as just as good as this one.

- 09/02/02 In too deep for one has totally put me off this band for life! The problem is, the song wasn't bad at first, but it was very overexposed and ended up sounding very annoying. Just my opinion anyways, but a great write up here none the less. |
