I first heard of Joe in my early teens and this was the album that brought him on the RnB scene in my opinion.
'All That I am' is Joe's second album released in 1997, Almost every track on this album was a hit and it is one of those albums one can listen to time and time again and still enjoy...
Joe has a great voice and great vocals, he mostly sings about love, love-making, relationships, and is well known for the ballads really as he is pretty good at doing them with the great combination of well written lyrics, soundtracks and the way he sings with loads of passion... 'RnB Joe'
The first track on this album 'All the Things Your Man Won't Do' is one of his most memorable tracks. It is a slow chilled out relaxing track, he says he can treat you 'like a diamond' , it's got very interesting lyrics about him doing for you 'all of the things your man won't do...'
The lyrics in this track are pretty special and will have your ears tweeked for more; his voice and vocals flow really smoothly along the chilled out backing soundtrack.
'Love Scene' is another very popular 'love-making style' track with lovely lyrics and a nice slow background. I recall the DJ on one of my favourite late night shows when I still in high school used to play this all the time so I have some really fond memories of it... Interesting video too.
'Good Girls' is also another slow ballad with a very nice soundtrack in the background combined with more of his lovely and interesting lyrics 'Why are all the good girls taken every time?' I recall it was a hit and had also had a rather interesting video.
'All That I am' is a lovely lovely track; a real crooner! haha:) Great lyrics, great vocals and he sings with such passion. 'All That I am is a man in love with you; all that I am is a man who's heart is true...' It's a sweet track with a simple background and Joe plays his guitar on this track too as you see in the lovely simple video..
It is easy to see why the album has this title as it is essentially an album about love, relationships and the ballads are mostly about that and a bit more...
'No One Else Comes Close' is such a beautiful track, almost brings tears to my eyes when I listen to it.
The lyrics are lovely... 'No one else comes close to me, no one makes me yearn the way you do, you're so special girl to me and you'll always be eternally. Everytime I hold you near, you always say the words I love to hear; Girl with just a touch you can do so much...'
I think the 'BackStreet Boys' also had their version of this track, can't recall who did it first but think Joe definitely stole the show on this one...
'How Soon' and 'Sanctified Girl', I find are okay compared to the rest of the tracks on the album. The same interesting lyrics and music style though I am not too drawn to them and I think they're the couple that are not as popular...
'Don't Wanna Be a Player' and 'U Shoulda told me' are the more upbeat tracks on this album and add a bit of dance feel to this rather slow RnB, Soul album and yet still Joe talks about he is ready to 'switch up the whole lifestyle' and 'found someone to live my life for' in 'Don't Wanna Be a Player' so wrapping up the album nicely with the ballads and love songs.
It's a great album, put Joe on the music map quite literally and he is one of my favourite RnB artists to date and have followed his career since this album.
