Advantages: seductive (than call also be a disadvantage)
Disadvantages: see above
Barry, who is known as the Maestro, was raised in inner city Los Angeles, where he lead a life of petty crime and landed himself in jail. Whilst there he vowed to find a career for himself in what he loved best - music. After his release he made his dream come true. His ambition was to create and produce music and did not think of himself as a singer. It wasn't until he was writing and producing sounds for Love Unlimited Orchestra who were very popular in the 1970s and had many hits, that he realised that this type of music was limited and he began to write the type of songs he is known for now. Songs like 'Can't Get Enough of Your Love Babe', You See The Trouble With Me', You're The First, My Last, My Everything. He realised the best person who could sing his songs was himself. No other person sounded right. Barry does not read or write music, but hears it all in his head. He composes such seductive songs which are so emotional. He slings together phrases in his songs in a pleasing manner - "I'm qualified to satisfy", "Your Sweetness is my Weakness", "It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next to Me". His verbal foreplay, his deep voice whispering words of sweet seduction has been copied by hundreds of men. Marvin Gaye once said that Barry White's sounds have haunted him and that he is both sweet and sincere. He is now gaining popularity again as a result of his songs being played on Ally McBeal. For me, it is not his words of lurrve that fill me with emotion when I hear his songs, but the way they are put together. He knows how to get the perfect sound produced. This album is by Funk Essentials and is called All-Time Greatest Hits. Most of the songs are very well known and you may not realise how brilliant he until you listen to them all. There are many more you can buy but under different titles. It never fails to satisfy
me.
