Advantages: The music is beautiful, the vocals are masterful.
Disadvantages: There are only ten tracks.
Paramore only formed in 2004, however the year after was the year that they would release their 'All We Know Is Falling' album upon the world. It was a short progression from forming to recording and releasing their first album, however the speed with which they got to work with this album is not at all apparent as you listen. If I did not know that this band had only formed a year before this album was released then I would say that 'All We Know Is Falling' is the work of a band that had long been performing together such is the proficiency with which they progress through this album.
From opening track 'All We Know' right through to the closer 'My Heart' the band impress here. Never do they sound anything short of enthralling as they attack their way through this album. The music is powerful and the vocals come soaring through in each and every one of the ten tracks here. What I've always liked about Paramore is their vocals, already with this début album from them the vocal style of Hayley Williams was highly refined and yet she was only actually sixteen when this album was recorded. Her inexperience is not at all apparent here, she does in fact carry the band with that bold and beautiful voice of hers.
Every track on this album is excellent, with none of these tracks do the band fail to impress and it thus becomes incredibly difficult to pick highlights from this release. I would however say that 'Pressure' is one such track that is amongst the best that this album has to offer. The guitar riffs are of great strength, the drum beats come pounding and as ever the vocals are absolutely perfect. From here however the band progress on to the track 'Emergency' and this one is even better. Never do Paramore cease to impress me on this album, and 'Emergency' is particularly striking with its fantastic use of lyrics and cracking chorus. The verse progression is beautiful and everything about the track just seems to come together perfectly.
'Here We Go Again' is another moment of excellence from this release, a track that holds my full undivided attention for near on 4 minutes (this is no easy task, I'm easily distracted and incredibly hard to please). Once more it is blessed with the most amazing of choruses and a sensational vocal display from the bands front woman. 'Whoa' is similarly outstanding a track, the power and energy that is present here really has to be heard to be believed. Few bands are capable of this sort of expression of power, Paramore convey such beauty here and seemingly do so with great ease. Listening to this band truly is a joy, and as they continue to progress their way through this album the ability that this band show is at times really quite scary.
Paramore have got it all in their sound, they are blessed with the most amazing of vocalists and this helps them no end in frequently furthering their fan base and making them stand out strong from the crowd. 'My Heart' closes this album strongly and at no point in 'All We Know Is Falling' do the band ever show any signs of weakness whatsoever. The closing track is poetry in motion, it's a glorious end to an album of utmost excellence. It is very rare for me to like all tracks of an album, but 'All We Know Is Falling' is one such album where every moment is brilliant and I can therefore have no complaints with any of the tracks that are present here.
'All We Know Is Falling' was the début album from Paramore and as such there are obviously areas in which they could improve (and did in fact with their second album 'Riot!'). It's not perfect, but it's pretty close to it and with each track here the band offer beautiful music which always entertains and never disappoints. Paramore are such a talented band, and with this album they proved this to the world and showed what brilliant music they were capable of producing. It was a great starting point for them and is still an album that I listen to on a very regular basis, I just love their sound and the voice of Hayley Williams is an absolute joy to behold. Very rarely will a band produce such beautiful and well defined music with their début, Paramore are one band that certainly managed it however and always in my opinion this album will go down as one of the greatest début releases of all time.
Summary: An excellent début album from Paramore, one of the best I have ever heard in fact.
