The Verve front man releases his first solo album, or depending on how you look at it based on the speculation of Ashcrofts writing on The Verves final album Urban Hymns, this could quite easily be considered his second. Ashcroft’s belief in the potency of his music has enabled him to produce songs that have perfectly communicated his ongoing voyage of personal discovery - a gift that hasn't deserted him here, whatever you may have heard elsewhere. I cannot believe how bland and boring Richard Ashcroft's solo material is. Don't assume from that statement that I just don't like 'Indie Music' or whatever. In fact the old Verve track "History" remains one of my all-time favourites, and "Bitter Sweet Symphony" still sounds pretty damn good as well. However Richard Ashcroft's solo work sounds no more than comfortable, dull, routine rock...there's nothing inspirational about it. My theory behind this is that the Verve were lifted above mundanity by the wonderful musical chemistry between all the members (though they were wrongly perceived as the 'genius' ...

Finally the first solo album from the genius Richard Ashcroft, ex Verve leader. Great results on my opinion with his debut "Alone with everybody". Apart from the already famous "A song for the lovers" and "Money to burn" a few other songs which are just great like "I get my beat" and "You in my mind in my sleep" (my favourites at the moment). You can still notice the old Verve sound in a couple of tracks but it couldn't have been otherwise!
