ALONE WITH EVERYBODY is the title of former VERVE frontman RICHARD ASHCROFT. The album consists of 11 tracks which I will review. The opening song A SONG FOR THE LOVERS is a fast paced opener with terrific melodies and sung beautifully by Ashcroft. The lyrics are so well written that they avoid being cliched. I GET MY ... The Verve front man releases his first solo album, or depending on how you look at it based on the speculation of Ashcrofts writing on The Verves final album Urban Hymns, this could quite easily be considered his second. Ashcroft’s belief in the potency of his music has enabled him to produce songs that have perfectly communicated his ... Read the complete review

I thought that this album had a much different feel to it than Urban Hyms. The tracks are much faster and more upbeat. The album starts with 'Song For The Lovers', much more upbeat than most of the songs on Urban Hyms and 'C'mon People We're Making It Now' is a very happy tune - much different to 'Drug ... So it begins, the potentially glorious solo career of Richard Ashcroft. After the best and last Verve album 'Urban Hymns', Ashcroft had to live up to the high expectations of his fans, and that he did! 'Alone With Everyone' is nothing like the classic Verve album, as it is filled with optimism and life, which is a direct contrast to the ... Read the complete review

The world waited for this first solo release from Richard Ashcroft to see would there be any similarity to his Verve work. I remember when it first came out the media commented on how happy Ashcroft sounded...and indeed he is! The album opens with 'A Song For The Lovers'. It is quite a fast paced track with lovely orchestral ... Read the complete review

He experienced what could have been a traumatic blow to his inventiveness and creativity as a musician but ex-Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft is fresh. He has moved on from the effervescent prettiness of his former band to make music for himself -- something the Verve might have done somewhere in time, but it wouldn't have been so honest or ... Finally the first solo album from the genius Richard Ashcroft, ex Verve leader. Great results on my opinion with his debut "Alone with everybody". Apart from the already famous "A song for the lovers" and "Money to burn" a few other songs which are just great like "I get my beat" and "You in ... Read the complete review

With a new all star band ( Pino Palladino - Bass , Bj Cole - Guitar , Peter Salisbury of The Verve on drums and Ashcrofts wife Kate on Keyboards ) and a handfull of tunes he's ready to start again . If it hadn't have been for Richard Ashcroft's (very-well publicised) musical past and split with THE VERVE, I doubt this album would have got much attention. Focus also increased on him when it was announced he was to headline at V2000 this year, so no doubt the guy was feeling a bit pressured. I have heard a lot of people slag Richard ... I didn't like the verve amazingly. They were good don't get me wrong but I was a bit young. I bought the Ashcroft single "song for the lovers" and then the album and i'm hardly disapointed. Every song is notable as a classi, especially common everybody and the best of the lot, NEW York. It wakes me up, sends me to sleep, ... Read the complete review

For the many fans of the verve who were distraught at the collapse of the band, the news of a solo alubm from Richard Ashcroft was greeted with great optimism. Despite the over-inflated hype surrouding the alubm, it has lived up to the many expectations. Although it isn't in the same league as Urban Hyms (and to be honest, what is) the two ... I could not get enough of the Verve, so just had to buy this albumn. Often I find a solo effort that comes such a short time after a split can sound bitter and rushed and often does not live up to expectations. This is not one of those albumns. As with the Verve, this albumn takes a surprisingly short time to grow on you - just a couple ... Read the complete review

I cannot believe how bland and boring Richard Ashcroft's solo material is. Don't assume from that statement that I just don't like 'Indie Music' or whatever. In fact the old Verve track "History" remains one of my all-time favourites, and "Bitter Sweet Symphony" still sounds pretty damn good as well. ... Read the complete review

After months and months of waiting, he finally released the much anticipated debut solo album. Only the problem being people forget that he has split from The Verve, this is totally his own work, no Nick McCabe, him alone. if you try and compare this to The Verve then you will hate it, if you accept that it's just him, listen and you will fall ... Well, here it is. Ashcroft was wise not to attempt to challenge Urban Hymns, and thus creates an album that would be unrecogniseable from the sounds of A Northern Soul and A Storm In Heaven, if it wasn't for Richard's strong and distinctive voice. The songs in this are fairly varied. Some are country, Money To Burn is a bit ... Read the complete review
