Songs too often sound exactly alike, with over-reliance on distorted openings and bluesy solos that feel present more out of necessity than anything, while the songs that do attempt something different only end up faili...more

Four years after their well-received 'Wiseblood,' Corrosion of Conformity disappoint by treading down the same route Metallica went in the nineties with their 'Load' and 'Reload' releases, forsaking their heavy metal background in favour of more commercially viable Southern rock. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, and there's enough decent material on here to avoid it seeming like a 'sell-out' and more of a natural artistic decision, but it still lacks the energy and excitement of previous (and later) albums, even down to its rubbish minimalist cover. Attempts to reclaim the Glory. Does it very poorly.

More technical. Less extreme.

Metal meets techno, without sounding terrible. Contrived singles.

One of the greatest metal albums of all time, lots of classics, a cohesive album, good lyrics, music and production A bit hard to swallow at first for some people, some of the guitar solos sound cheesey - but were probably still cool then, and are still exciting

Some good old tunes... Some naff dated ones...

Heavy Metal - 1995

Great drums and maintenance of the longboat sound. Songs blur together and lack the energy of earlier releases.

Hip-Hop & Rap - East Coast - 2000

Vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors - Fish
Great lyrics and some wonderful songs It was all downhill after this

Vile - Cannibal Corpse
Corpsegrinder is better than Barnes. Getting really samey now.

Village Lanterne - Blackmore's Night
Reasonable mix of folk rock and traditional songs. Why cover 'Streets of London?'

Adventure - Furslide
Interesting lyrics, talented band, the odd 'rock - y' song Some songs easy to skip, very underrated band and album

After The Eulogy - Boy Sets Fire
The Album On A Whole None.

Absolute Purity - Alas
Erik Rutan's guitars and Howard Davis' drums are mostly quite good. Weak.

Alice In Chains - Alice in Chains
Original, deep, wonderfully-written You won't find singles here if you're looking for them
