Amazing it was to think it was nearly three years since the release of her last album when Madonna released “American Life” to the world. Us fans had been waiting for so long, that being part of the build up was actually rather fun. The high expectations, the leaking of track names, reviews, samples – all part of the process in waiting to get my greasy little mits on the finished product. Released in 2003 and generally overlooked, Madonna's American Life album was her 9th studio album release. Selling over 300,000 copies and peaking at number 1 in the UK album charts it is considered as being a failure when compared to sales of previous and later albums. Naturally being a Madonna release, controversy overshadowed the album. American Life is probably Madonna's Most underrated album ever. Its such a shame that many people looked over this little gem. The albums got lost in all the controversy surrounding the tittle track and the war themed video that went with it. the timing of the release was very bad and the album sales really suffered because of this. American Life has some of Madonna's most personal and beautiful songs of her entire career. One of the most stunning tracks is Intervention. Her voice is incredible and she trully sings it from the heart.
