The band do improve as they get older though, even if they take an electro turn which isn't really to my liking. The bass player is about the best thing the band has going for it, although no world beater. Tracks like "Hello, Hello" have a grotty french coffee and gitane growl worthy of a wolf from the Pyrenees and certainly add a bit of character but it would pushing it to sa...more

Premium Review Anarchy In Paris - Metal Urbain: Anarchy with a baguette (266 words)
by - written on 21/10/08 (Very useful, 29 readings)
Rating:

A simple drum machine, a dodgy synthesizer, a guitarist that makes it look Sid Vicious was actually playing and a band which basically consists of very little talent but Metal Urbain were a first era French punk band who quickly caught on to the London scene and attempted some political lyrics, their punk sneers in an overtly French accent sounds like some one gargling with a hot onion ring whilst coughing up phlegm but despite all of this, there is something that I quite like about them. Venom And Tears - Throwdown
A decent display of vocal and instrumental sound. All the tracks sound incredibly similar.

The Absinthe Dreams - Path Of No Return
Song structure is strong, the album is always excellent to listen to. The music is not hugely original.

Street Poetry - Hanoi Rocks
An upbeat album featuring a few tracks of Glam Rock glory. Some of the tracks fast become really rather irritating.

Rape Of The Bastard Nazerene - Akercocke
Some nice, raw, devilish metal from posh Londoners. Interludes are far too frequent, far too tedious and far too terrible.

Open Fire - Alabama Thunderpussy
Good incorporation of classic metal style, with great guitars and improved vocals. Too content to be nothing new.

Man On The Roof - Stephen Fretwell
Some excellent music expertly put together and produced. Some tracks are over-long and don't come off quite as crisply as they should.

Mantaray - Siouxsie
A diversely different album which provides great listening pleasure Must be listened to in its entirety to be fully appreciated

Kalmanto - Ajattara
Lyrics in Finnish, for natives who hate English. Dull and ineffective.

Input The Output - 1000 Hertz

Drama Queen - Neurosonic
An exciting mash-up mix of musical genres, Neurosonic is a highly talented band. Not an album that most will appreciate, the music is far too diverse to allow for that.
