Considered the last album to be made in Metallica's original style, "...And Justice For All" is a very unique album from the others, and I at least consider it to be their "heaviest" (in terms of riffs and double bass pedal whacking). The album was the first the band promoted with a music video and single release, a practice they had previously been against, for the phenomenal and mould-breaking "One," and it was undoubtedly due to this song that the album scored a chart position of 6 on the US list. The first official album to be made following the tragic death of bassist Cliff Burton in 1986 (although the "Garage Days ... Read the complete review

This was Metallica's 4th studio album, and their first album without bassist Cliff Burton, who was replaced by Jason Newsted. Its without doubt their most complex and creative album, and, in terms of the songs, their best in my opinion. However despite that there is one huge flaw to the album. The production. Lars Ulrich sounds like he's decided placing wet cardboard over his drums will improve their sound, Kirk and James seem to have decided that the mid know on their amps should be turned right down, and they seemingly failed to turn Jasons amp on at all. This is the only reason I couldnt give the album 5 stars, no matter how much I wanted to. Musically its ... Read the complete review

Metallica:...and justice for all. Gotta say that this album caught me by surprise, a few friends of mine don't like this album so i was quite nyeh on getting it but i did and liked it...which obviously is a good thing. so i'll get on with it then. Blackened 06:41 Hmm well as the first track i was very interested in this one seeing as i mentioned in previous reviews on music i don't normally like opening tracks on albums they tend to dissapoint me, i can't say this one dissapointed me because obviously i was expecting bad music from what i had heard. But no i was thoroughly interested. The beat was just so original i loved it, the riffs ... Read the complete review

This is by far my favourite Metallica album of all time. Hetfield roars almost all the way through, the guitar solos are perfectly fitting to the tracks and regardless of what other people claim Lars' bass drum sounds perfect, the right amount of click for a great thrash metal tone. I personally think Blackened is one of, if not the greatest Metallica track of all time and that unfortunately they will never be able to beat this album with anything new so if you are looking to start somewhere with Metallica albums, I recommend here, there are no weak tracks, right from Blackened to Dyers Eve there is not a single dull moment. From the start of Metallica until ... Read the complete review

Metallica after producing 3 heavy metal speed classics and losing their bassist to a bus crash have grown up a bunch and have become to tire of their own sound. The tempos are not a fast as previous albums and the lyrics are serious social commentary that may scare those who just want to bang your head. I however love the serious bleak tone of the album. Blackened is the opener with an backwards guitar intro that leads into the fastest song on the album. This song talks warns of the outcome of our hypocritical world's direction. Great riff and some of Kirk Hammett's best guitar work. Amazing skill displayed. ...And Justice For All is ... Read the complete review
