... catastrophe, respectively. Actually I haven't got a clue, but my definition of effective post-rock is how successfully this consistent image is put across, and AYWKUBTTOD do so with impressive intensity and conviction, though the sound does become quite repetitive and loses its effects as the album plods on. Despite the stupid name and genre containing the tell-tale word "post-," this isn't overbearingly arty music. Well, at least not entirely. This album to be frank is f**king amazing, a brilliant debut, slightly stranger than the follow up 'Madonna', strange is usually good however. Don't be put off by the fact it only has 8 tracks, each of these is a masterpiece, ranging from the truly rawk-tastic 'Richter Scale Madness', to the beautiful 'Half of What' to the very dark 'Novena Without Faith'. What is truly wonderful about both Trail of Dead albums has to be the raw emotion behind the lyrics and the music, which is mixed together to create what can only be described as beautiful noise. The album starts as it means to go on with 'Richter Scale Madness', ...  Read the complete review
