As some of you may know, I used to be a huge fan of Steps (still am!) and so as you can imagine, I am thrilled that they have reunited. To celebrate, I am going to write a Steps-related review.
For those of you who don't know, Steps were a British pop group who were active between the years of 1997 and 2001. The group consisted of Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Ian 'H' Watkins, Lee Latchford-Evans and Lisa Scott-Lee. They had many top hits (around 20) and travelled the World. However, in 2001 Claire and H decided that they had enough and quit the band. However, a couple of months after the split, they were back with a new album, consisting of just the two of them. Today, I will be reviewing that album.
Another You, Another Me was the first album from duo-act Claire and H. It was released in the United Kingdom in 2002. The CD is currently selling from Amazon from as little as £0.97 which I think is excellent value for money.

Despite the awful circumstances (the two left the group, and then created their own band of just the two of them), I do actually really like this album.
To me, this is the kind of album that I can listen to straight through without skipping any of the songs. Having to choose my favourite songs would be a difficult task for me, however, songs which do stand out for me include:
All Out Of Love - this was the first ballad that they released as a single. This has a real Steps sound to it and I really like it. It is a very emotional ballad, yet I like the fact that it was quite upbeat and changes key at the end.
DJ - A good dancey track. At the time of release (in 2002) I thought that it was a really good club anthem, although now I think that it is a little bit cheesey. It's a good song, but I don't like it as much as the others.
All I Want Is You - Again another upbeat and powerful ballad which shows off their voices really well.
Let Me Carry You - Not my favourite song on the album, but a nice 'easy-listening' song to finish the album. If I am honest, it is quite a boring song.
Half A Heart - A very funky song! Makes you wanna dance!
If I am honest, I think that this is what Claire and H wanted to do when they were in Steps - really sing (not just a line here and there etc). And this is what they do on this album; really sing.
Whilst they were in Steps, it was obvious that Claire was the best female vocalist and H was the best male vocalist, however I don't think that they were given the chance to show off their full potential. They really can sing; I didn't realise how powerful their voices actually are. Their voices blend really well together too.
I have to say that I am really impressed with this album. It is much more mature and makes more 'easy listening' than the Steps' albums. However, I would have to say that for Claire and H, that this album is more about the singing, rather than trying to get you up and dancing like the Steps Cds were.
This is a brilliant album. I would say that there is only one weak song on here and that is Beauty and The Beast (the disney song). They sing it well, but I just don't like the song.
This album is in another leauge and cannot really be compared to Steps music. However, there is a small element of Steps about this album and so I would say that if you liked Steps then you will probably like this album.
Thanks for reading!
