Lyrics such as "Rubber ... more ... people are, lovely people..." would never find themselves on a Spice Girls album (how can Adam say that he likes that talentless array of tarts, I don't know). The second track is extremely funny - a mixture of the first b-side "Lady" and an oldie "Catch A Falling Star" cracked me up, as did old show opener "Plastic Surgery" (part of the punk classic film "Jubilee". What else can I say apart from brilliant. This box set of Ant hits (and near misses) is an insight into the genius song writing of Adam Ant and Marco Pironni (who compiled this collection). Lets get the technical bit out of the way first. The record company (Sony) can only be described as mean when it came to the packaging of this album - the CDs came in card sleeves which were porly glued and crumpled (back to the shop...) Prior to release, it was "known" that the sonic quality would "vary" - some of the tracks came from bootlegs - one can hear the needle on the record on a few tracks and one or two which sound like they were recorded on ... I'f you've read my profile it will be clear I'm biased but I'm going to tell you how ruddy marvelous this box set is anyway. Inside the box bearing the handsome features of mr Goddard (aka Adam) lives 3 CD's featuring 64 tracks ranging from the 1977's Young Parisians and Lady to the last widely available single Wonderful. 27 of the tracks are previously unreleased and I even I didn't have a number of tracks and the CD also features alternative versions (often the original recording) of well known anthems Stand and Deliver, Manners and Physique and much more.
