Advantages: Some really good tracks, was only £9.99
Disadvantages: some terrible tracks that do not do the album justice
Over the years, I have considered myself as being quite a big party animal, rolling in at the early hours of the morning. Although I do still like to go out and have a great time, I'm getting on abit now and can't keep up like I used to.
My taste in music over the years has been varied and I am at that stage where I like more or less everything these day, particularly Indie Rock, however I love it when albums like Ministry of Sound The Anthems 1991 - 2008 are released. I was in my first year at high school in 1991, so it is kind of my era. I get excited when I know I can listen to an album that going to take me back to parts of life and certain nights that always stick in mind.
To be honest when I first saw the album, I didn't actually read the track listings, it was on offer on HMV website for £9.99, bargain so I just added it to my cart and awaited its arrival.
The album itself consists of 63 of what Ministry of Sound must believe to be the best anthems over the past 18 years. These are all over 3 CD's and my honest opinion when I actually received it was quite disappointing as going through the CD's an actually listening to it, there were only several occasions where I thought in my head "Thats a Tune".
The CD's are in no particular order and I feel that they dedicate majority of the album to a certain period within the 18 years, with the odd song cropping up from a certain year. If I was too make the compilation myself I would choose a whole set of different tracks.
CD 1
1. Robin S - Show Me Love
2. Gat Decor - Passion
I originally liked this when it was originally released and it was one of those tunes that did get me in the mood for going out however the one present on this album is the version with no lyrics, I would have preferred the version with lyrics as I thought it gave more to the song.
3. Sandy B - Make the World Go Round
Never liked this track and never will do, we have heard samples from this track go into others, but this song in general, i'm afraid I don't like it
4. Kendoh - Nakasaki
Again the version with no words. The was a llot of people that really liked this song in its day however again I was not one of them.
5. Rythmn of the Loose - Break of Dawn
Really like the beat on this track, takes me back to my high school days and is one of those so called "rave" tracks that was always played at nappy night - the under 18's night at the local club. Featured on many compilations over the years.
6. Alex Party - Alex Party
If I was going to put any Alex Party track on this album, I would have put Wrap Me Up or Don't Give Me Your Life. Another I don't like.
7. Bobby Brown - Two Can Play That Game
Only compilation i think this deserve to be in is the NOW compilation at the time it was in the charts.
8. The Nightcrawlers - Push the Feeling On
I did like the Nightcrawlers and did have their album, however again anthem, don't think so.
9. Alison Limerick - Where Love Lives
No this is a great track, but on the album they have put a version on that we would not associate with the song. If they had put the one on that was played in the clubs during it time then I would have really liked it.
10. De'Lacy - Hideaway
Still featured in compilations to this day and much deserved I would say. Loved this track back in the day and still like it now.
11. M People - One Night in Heaven
M People - Anthem, they did produce some good tracks however I don't feel that the song is worthy of a anthem on a compilation.
12. Strike - U Sure Do
This takes me back and was on of my favourites in its day. You see it featured on a lot of the Old Skool CD's that Ministry bring out. Great track.

15 - The original - I Luv U Baby
Not a bad track, but not one of my favourites. Not a lot of variation in the track apart from different versions of the words I Luv U Baby.
16. Urban Cookie Collective - The Key, The Secret
17 - Felix - Don't You Want Me
Now this the first track that I thought now this is a tune, I have always loved this track and I always will do. There is nothing thats I don't like about this track, great variation in the beat and just one of those all rounders that gets you in the mood for going out.
18 - Jaydee - Plastic Dreams
19 - Wink - HIgher State of Consciousness
A classic in its own right, however I think we have heard it that many times now, surely it has died its death, however last year, a completely different version was around. SHould be dead and buried now but much deserved place within the album.
20 - Shamen - Ebenezer Goode
21 - The Prodigy - Everybody in the Place
Should be much more of the Prodigy on this album, would have been nice to see No Good Start The Dance on here.
CD2
1 - Arman Van Helden - You Don't KNow Me
Not the best Armand Van Helden but the track that takes us back in the day.
2 - Black Legend - The Trouble With Me
I thought this track was great. Much deserved on the compilation.
3 - Duke - So In Love With You
4 - Kenny "Dope" Buckets Heads - The Bomb
6 - Ruffneck - Everybody Be Somebody
Big Big NO NO i'm afriad on this one
7 - Sneaker Pimps - Spin Spin Sugar
I alway thought this track was a little bit strange and could never get to grips with it, I ner liked it to be honest, but I never disliked it either.
8 - Double 99 - Rip Groove
9 - Ruff - Dreaming
10 - Grace - Its Not Over Yet
Great tune, one of the best in its year. Not too dancy however there is definitely something about that track that makes it a success.
11 - Three Drives - Greece 2000
12 - Chicane - Saltwater
13 - Faithless - God is a DJ
Would have been better with Insomnia, I feel that is the better from Faithless that people associate with more, however much deserved presence.
14 - Underworld - Born Slippy
The track that takes us back to Trainspotting. Excellent Tune.
15 - Zombie Nation - Kern Craft 400
16 - Storm - Time To Burn
Again one of those tracks that you listen to on Friday afternoon on your way home in the car and it gives you that Friday feeling and you just want to go out.
17 - Darude - Sandstorm
18 - Ian Van Dahl - Castles in the Sky
19 - Delirium - Silence
20 - System F - Out of the Blue

1 - Daft Punk - One More Time
2 - David Morales - Needin You
3 - Paul Johnson - Get Get Down
4 - Moloko - Sing It Back
Never liked it and still don't now. Thought it was pretty boring and pointless.
5 - Roger Sanchez - Another Chance
Love it and again for me this is one of the best tracks on the album. A somewhat mellow dance track that takes me back.
6 - Fatboy Slim - Praise You
7 - Basement Jaxx - Red Alert
8 - Alan Braxe - INtro
9 - Rui Da Silva - Touch Me
10 - Layo & Bushwacko - Love Story
11 - X Press 2 - Lazy
Another pointless track that to me did not make any sense. Anthem - definitely not.
12 - Shakedown - At Night
13 - Bob Sinclair - Love Generation
Bob Sinclair has made some great tracks over the years and is extremely successful, which I am sure not everyone knows. I think this is the main track that people would associate with Bob Sinclair. Extremely catchy and nice to see some of the later years music on there.
14 - Tim Deluxe - It Just Won't Do
15 - Jakatta - American Dream
16 - iiO - Rapture
17 - Stonebridge - Put em High
This song reminds me of when I become single again after 8 years and always puts a smile back on my face.
18 - Eric Prydz - Call on Me
Again fond memories of this track and great remix of what was an old song, even though I do like the 80's version probably just as much.
19 - Tomcraft - Loneliness
20 - Benny Benassi - Satisfaction
21 - Fedde Le Grande - Put Your Hands up for Detroit
It's got to be on there, the song that was played so much during 2006 and probably annoyed everyone as much as it annoyed me. I liked it to start off woth however was played way too much.
Now you have had a quide through the actual CD, you will probably agree with me that there are lot more songs that are justifiably worthy of being on this album, probably more so that 80% of what is actually on it. I would have thought a little bit of Robert Miles, Children and Livin Joy, Dreamer would have been on there and what has happened to the later years, two of three tracks which have covered a couple of years.
£9.99, not bad but if I am going to buy decent compilations, I think I am going to stick to Gate Crasher. I never seem to go wrong with them.
